I have decided that I do not have the time to complete my project My 1984 Jaguar XJ6 had a headgasket failure in 1994. I had owned the car since 1992 and since I knew the condition of the body to be 99% rust and damage free, I decided that the way to take care of this was to transplant a small block Chev engine into the car. Following much research I decided to use a JOHNS JAGUARS KIT. This company has had the experience of doing many of these conversions and sells a kit that contains every item needed to perform the transplant The transmission that was recommended was a GM 700r4, which I located (from a late model Camaro), I had the transmission overhauled by a local transmission shop to heavy duty standards. The Jaguar engine and transmission was removed, then the engine compartment was stripped of every wire hose and component, the car was sent to a body shop, the engine compartment was cleaned stripped and repainted. We then re-installed the underhood "stuff". The engine/transmission was installed using the JOHNS mounts and components. I bought a brand new set of manifolds had them finished off, grind off all the casting marks, polished and then JET COATED, The engine (late model 350ci) was then painted and installed) While the engine was out we removed the complete rear end and rebuilt it with new bearings, brakes etc. The car was completely re asembled, and a new exhaust system was installed. The car was then ready for the road. I drove it for about 4 months, it was so nice that I decided to have it stripped and repainted, (the power difference between the original Jaguar engine and the Chev is incredible)....all trim, lights bumpers and glass was removed.....this is where it sits right now...unfortunately all these years later... I can not seem to go any further with this...I have lost interest after all these years. My $13,000 + project is stalled....and I want to sell it. If you are thinking to do a conversion like this or have alwas wanted a Jag/Chev...here is the perfect car for you just about done...all the mechanicals are complete...paint it, bumpers lights on and off you go I have a complete set of new rubber gaskets for the doors, under the lights and trim. Talk to me about this I have set a very reasonable reserve on this car..it needs a home. The car has new Vanden Plas polished wheels with new tires, all it needs is paint and a new headliner to make this a fun showpiece. email me for my phone number and we can talk about the car. The car is "movable" under its own power and can be driven....(but no glass or lights so only driven around the warehouse area) and the hood and trunk lid are now mounted on the car
