This 1982 Mercedes Benz 300 CD Beautiful Red Turbo Coupe has 198,504 miles on the working odometer. New Windshield and Gasket, Recent Valve Grind, Stem Seals, Thermostat, and Head Gasket, Blaupunkt AM/ FM/ CD Player. The air conditioning has been changed to 134A, and works well. Current tags until Feb 09. With the exception of the few following minor issues, the Interior is in VERY NICE condition. It has a few small cracks in the dash (hardly noticable), chipped wood around switches on center console, small cracks in the vinyl on driver seat bottom (replacement upholstery included with car), driver sun visor is from an SD (black CD visors are hard to find), and the seams in the top of the rear seat back coming apart. The Headliner is coming out on the Driver side above the back Window (have not found the proper Glue to fix it). A few electric items do not work- dome light, cruise control, emergency flashers. The paint is mostly original with the exception being the front fenders, and the driver door. It had 183,600 miles on it when I got it, and I installed a Lovecraft Vegetable Oil conversion kit and Injection Line Heaters and drove it for nearly 15,000 miles on WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil). I removed the equipment (not the Injection line Heaters) to put on another car, so another kit can be installed very easy if desired.
HOWEVER, it has developed a Rod Knock. It will start and drive, but with the knocking, I am not sure it will go very many more miles. It will need the Engine replaced, or repaired. Good used engines are available from your local self serve wrecking yards for around $300.00. I found one at another local yard for $450.00, and they will remove it from the car. I was going to replace the engine myself, but I have too many projects right now. NADA price guide for this car in average condition (this car is ABOVE average with the exception of the engine) is $8,950
