For those of you that may have seen this car on Ebay before…I listed it last week, but the auction was stopped by Ebay because they thought there was a security problem with my account. I inquired about what triggered them to take action, but so far they have not held to their 24-48 hour response time promise. I am listing the vehicle a second time, and hopefully Ebay will not end this auction prematurely like they did the first. I bought this Mercedes Benz 300TD turbo diesel wagon in January of 2006 with 287,xxx miles on it and converted it to run on vegetable oil. The two tank conversion features a hose wrapped and glow plug heated filter, Kaori 30 plate heat exchanger, hose-on-hose (HOH) fuel lines, in tank heat exchanger, Cyberdyne digital temperature gauge, a 6 way Pollak valve to control the fuel flow, and electric lift (fuel) pumps for the diesel and vegetable oil fuel systems. Since the conversion I have driven it on a 3000 mile road trip and accumulated 331,1xx HONEST miles. The odometers were fragile in these cars, but this one has worked the entire life of the car. I am selling this car because I don’t have room on my property to keep it. The good: This car has been converted to run on WVO, waste vegetable oil, so it helps the planet and your wallet. :) (It still also runs on diesel fuel and is a heated two-tank conversion.) There are 2 new tires on the rear. It runs and drives well. I would drive it anywhere, and in fact, I have driven it on a 3000-mile road trip to the West Coast and back. There is an after-market CD player installed. The block heater can be used to assure starts in cold weather. The automatic transmission has synthetic fluid and shifts smooth and proper. The car turns off with the key, the heater controls work, and the power locks work. Anyone who knows these cars, knows that the vacuum system to operate these controls can be troublesome. The manual sunroof works and is free from leaks. I have a clean title in hand with no liens against it. Extras: I can probably throw in a couple cubies of veggie-oil to the lucky buyer. I have lots of extra parts (and given an estimated value). Set of Bosch glow plugs(The ones in the car work, these are spares) $50 A Haynes Repair manual for this make/model. $15 A set of new Bosch wiper blades. $20 4 plastic preliminary fuel filters. $18 4 Bosch primary fuel filters. $25 1 Bosch oil filter. $10 4.5 bottles of official MB hydraulic fluid for the SLS. $90 Manual window regulators and interior front door panels $75 Set of the original aluminum rims and the proper wheel bolts $325 3 extra SLS valves if needed to repair the self leveling suspension $150 Extra battery (also not needed, but if you want it) $75 Extra 6-way Pollak valve $75 The bad: The SLS (Self Leveling Suspension) is no longer self-leveling. It holds its current position only. The high-pressure hose sprung a leak and I removed the driver pin for the pump when the fluid ran out. Also, I suspect the leveling valve in the rear needed attention, so I have 3 extra ones to go with the car. I also have enough official MB hydraulic fluid to fill the system. This stuff is $20 a bottle and I will give you 4.5 bottles. There is some rust, the clear coat is flaking off the roof, a dent in the hatch, and a dent in the drivers door. The car is still solid and road worthy, but it is over 20 years old and has seen Wisconsin winters. The jack points are solid. I have provided pictures of the main rust areas, which include the bottoms of the doors and the passenger side rear fender. The passenger window needs a new regulator. It doesn't stay all the way closed and falls down about an inch after being closed. I have manual window regulators and interior door panels from a 240D that could be used, or otherwise simply replacing the power window regulator will make it right. I was lazy and just taped the window up. The AC doesn't work. I haven't diagnosed this at all. The belt was off the compressor when I bought the car. The dash has a couple cracks. The clock in the dash doesn't keep time when the car is off. It needs new capacitors. The exhaust will probably need attention in the future. One of the welds by the muffler is rusting. The rear CV half shafts (axles) have torn boots, so they should be replaced. I replaced them once and they have until December on the warranty (2 year warranty), so just the labor is needed and I can acquire the new parts if you do the repair and get me the cores while it can still be covered by the warranty. The fuel gauge doesn’t work, but I believe the fuel warning light does. I just topped off the tank once every couple weeks. I can provide more information or pictures on request. If you have questions or would like pictures of specific items, please ask and I will do my best to respond promptly. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due with 24 hours from the close of the auction via PayPal. The car must be picked up from its current location in Wausau, Wisconsin within 14 days from the close of the auction. I am available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday mornings to have the car picked-up. If the buyer would like to have the car shipped, it is there responsibility to make all arrangements, coordinate a pick up time with me, and pay for shipping costs. The vehicle is for sale locally, so the mileage may vary slightly from what is listed in the auction. On Oct-10-08 at 12:07:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I am not sure why the strange code is appearing in between the line breaks in my listing. I apologize for that. There is not a way for me to go back and edit them out now that the auction has started.
